Singing Tips From Susan Boyle

The unassuming nature of Susan Boyle compared to her voice stunned everybody. But what made her to be such a good singer? What catapulted her to stardom in just a few days? Before we learn some tips from her, a little about her background will be appropriate. Born April 1, 1961 to Pete Boyle, who was himself a singer, and Bridget, a shorthand typist. So we can say her talent is partly from something in her gene.

She also took some singing lessons and attended Birmingham Acting School. Short of that, all we know is that most of the singing she did was in her local church. Although the society, especially the judges of competitions tend to look at physical appearances, Boyle was determined not to hide her talent. Equipped with such a determination, she had appeared in a number of competitions.

Her not winning in those competitions was not because she was untalented, but mostly because of the false image of what a supposed singer must look like:beautiful, gorgeous and young.

This was the same in the "Britain Has Talent" competition. As she stepped on stage, everybody was expecting a squawking voice, but were geared to reality as her voice pierced through the air. Appearance, the judges came to understand, does not a talent make. What are some tips and lessons we can take from Susan Boyle?

First of all, Susan Boyle knew she had some talents in singing. Mainly for spiritual purpose of singing to God, she took some singing courses. She is also a determined lady never to give up on pursuing what she enjoyed doing. That is why in spite of her failures in previous competitions, she still entered "Britain Has Talent", where her star really shined.

Her training showed off as she hit high notes continuously without losing her breathe or the quality of her voice. This is where most singers fail. Reaching high tones is more of a psychological trick than technique. It could be illustrated this way:

Moving a car forward requires putting it in gear 1 after starting it. But in order to continue moving steadily and smoothly one needs to almost immediately put it in gear 2, then 3 and so forth. In reaching high tone, say C, what one needs to do is reach a slightly higher tone than C. Then almost automatically, all by itself the tone will come to C.

In other words, hitting exact tone at once is disastrous, a little higher tone should be reached first. Then this way, the tone needed will be struck, almost by itself.

Another thing we need to discuss is about vocal choirds. Vocal chords are the instrumental strings of the voice. It could be illustrated with piano strings. The lower notes are longer and thicker, while the higher notes are shorter and thinner. Applying this to singing, the vocal chords need to be shortened when singing higher notes in order for the sound to come out well.

All these Susan Boyle mastered because she did not give up on her dream of becoming a good singer. She as well took steps to singing mastery by taking lessons in singing. But most important, she pushed herself to success by undauntedly stepping forward. Now she is a star, known, viewed and heard by millions.

If you think you can´t take a singing lesson because of cost or master the art of singing, you´re wrong. In my signature is the review of a resource that might make you sing like Susan Boyle in no time and it is affordable

2009 Pittsburgh Steelers Fantasy Football Preview

The Pittsburg Steelers won their 6th Super Bowl title and 2nd in 4 years in 2008 by defeating the Arizona Cardinals 27-23 in a heartstopping classic. Ben Roethlisberger rebounded from his poor showing a couple years earlier against Seattle by completing 21-30 passes for 256 yards and the game winning TD to Santonio Holmes with just seconds left. Although the Steelers capped their impressive season by winning the Super Bowl they were an inconsistent bunch all year long in terms of fantasy performance. With pretty much the entire team returning this year will the Steelers offer fantasy owners more week to week options heading into 2009? I examine that now.

As good as the ultimate result was for Roethlisberger and the Steelers last year the QB proved to be a nightmare for owners last year with his inconsistent play. Roethlisberger finished2008 with 3314 passing yards along with 17 TD's and 15 Int's for a rating of 80.2. Not exactly the type of numbers you are looking for out of your number 1 QB. The bottom line is that Pittsburg is, was, and will always be a power running team and quite frankly when Ben is asked to throw a lot he usually gets himself into trouble. Ben is a very good QB just not a good fantasy QB. He possesses great leadership skills and has his statistical moments but do not trust him with your fantasy team because you will be greatly disappointed. Ben actually went in the 3rd round in my draft last summer and the owner who selected him won 2 games all year. Owners seem to be getting the point as Roethlisberger has been going around the 9th-10th rounds in the mock drafts I have been participating in. Treat him as a serviceable number 2 options heading into 2009 but nothing more than that. There are far better options.

When successful the meat and potatoes of the Steeler offense lies with the running game. Last year the team's backfield was hit with numerous injuries leaving Head Coach Mike Tomlin painfully thin at the position. Once again Willie Parker failed to make it through the entire season missing 5 games and finishing the season with 791 yards and 5 TD's. Parker has only played 16 games once in his career and he will turn 29 about halfway through the season. When healthy Parker is definitely a number 1 option at RB but when is he ever healthy? Furthermore, the Steelers will certainly be looking for 2nd year back Rashard Mendenhall to make much more of an impact in his sophomore season after playing in only 4 games as a rookie. The Steelers are extremely high on Mendenhall who is built more in the mode of what a typical Pittsburg back usually looks like. At 5-10 225 Mendenhall is a power runner who will inevitably steal short yardage and goal line carries from Parker who has never really been a TD machine to begin with. With both Parker and Mendenhall both out of commission the Steelers emergency plan actually stepped in and played fairly well. Mewelde Moore rushed for 589 yards and 5 TD's down the stretch run while also chipping in with 320 yards receiving and another score. The ex Minnesota Vikings castoff proved more than capable of holding the fort down while Parker was readying himself for the playoffs. In terms of fantasy potential I like Mendenhall the most out of all the Steelers RB's for the upcoming season. It will be a miracle if Parker stays healthy the entire year and even if he does Mendehall will be the goal line back at the very least. That being said treat Parker as a low end number 3 fantasy RB heading into the season. Mendenhall is far more interesting because if (when) Parker goes down he will have a real opportunity to become a stud due to his talents and the system he plays in. Mendenhall has been going between the 8th-10th rounds in the mock drafts I have been doing and spending a late round selection on him could prove to be a treasure for you as the season goes on. With Mendenhall back in the fold Moore's value goes down dramatically and he has typically not been drafted in these preliminary mock drafts.

Similarly to Roethlisberger the Steelers receiving corps has it's moments but in my estimation provides fantasy owners with nothing more than stop gap/match-up options on a very limited basis. Although showing definite signs of slowing down Hines Ward continues to be the Steelers number 1 option through the air. Ward remains a cagey veteran who is almost as well known for his blocking skills as he is at catching the ball. Ward had a really nice '08 statistically accounting for 82 catches for 1047 yards and 7 TD's. The 1047 yards represents his best yardage total since he went for 1163 in 2003. Ward will continue to be the receiver that Roethlisberger will look for when he is in a pinch or when the Steelers need a clutch catch. After you grab your first 3 receivers Ward is a nice option for you to have on your bench who is worthy of playing time depending upon who Pittsburg is playing. Super Bowl hero Holmes will be the Steelers number 2 option come opening day. Holmes caught 55 balls for 821 yards and 5 TD's in 2008 and with Nate Washington leaving for Tennessee should see more balls thrown his way. Holmes has much more big play ability than Ward does at this stage of their careers and thus Holmes is more valuable in fantasy terms especially if your league awards bonuses for long TD's as mine does. Treat Holmes as a nice number 3 WR or Flex option come draft day this August. The only other Steeler receiver that is worth a look is 2nd year pro Limas Sweed. Sweed had a rather forgettable rookie campaign catching only 6 balls for 64 yards and failed to reach the end zone. Pittsburg has big plans for Sweed and he is the big target the team has been yearning for since the departure of Plaxico Burress. Sweed has some real sleeper potential heading into '09 and is worthy of a late round pick. If he happens to not get drafted in your league be sure to snag him off the waiver wire if you get a chance and let the chips fall where they may. Keep and eye on him. TE Heath Miller is really not a number 1 option and although at times Ben will look for him in the Red Zone he is not really utilized enough to be anything more than a backup used only in emergency purposes.

The Steelers DST is always a solid unit and if you play in a league like mine that rewards DST's with enormous point totals that can greatly assist your chances of winning a championship. I know full well what a good DST can do as I rode the Eagles DST to a title last year. With Troy Polamalu and James Harrison continuing to anchor down the defence treat the Steelers DST as an elite unit and one of the top 3 DST's on the board this summer. Well, that is it for the champs. Next up: The Cincinnati Bengals.

How to Organize Your Scrapbook Space-A Sweet N Sassy Scrappin' Exclusive

How to Organize your Scrapbook Space - A Sweet N Sassy Scrappin' Exclusive

Are you having trouble organizing your scrapbook space? Well, have no fear, you are not alone. There are many ways to organize your space, but, can you afford it. If you are on a limited budget, especially that which you can spend on your scrap habit, then the last thing you want to do is blow that budget on expensive scrapbook containers just to organize yourself. You don't have to break the bank just to get organized. Using a little creativity, you can use items from around the house to make your scrap space a little more manageable.

So, here are a few tips on how to organize you space using items around the house:

o From time to time, we all have empty containers such as glass jars like mayonnaise jars, baby food containers, spaghetti sauce jars to name just a few. Next time you find yourself reaching into the recycle bin to dispose properly of these containers, be sure to think twice. Empty containers make perfect storage holders for loose ribbon, beads, brads, confetti, and buttons.

o Empty boxes around the house - use these boxes to organize your tools, scrap paper, stickers, etc.

o Bigger boxes can be cut down to organize your paper - you can also use extra cardboard to divide paper up by color, size, etc.

Being organized doesn't have to be expensive. Use your creativity to come up with something that works without having to buy something. You can always use some of your scraps to dress us those boxes, containers, etc.

The San Diego Chargers - The Most 300 Yard Passing Games in NFL History

One of the most common ways to judge a quarterback or a team's passing game is to see how many 300 yard games they have thrown for in a season or over the past few years. A 300 yard game shows that a quarterback or team were very successful in moving the ball through the air. This will continue to be the measuring stick used in the future too as a 300 yard passing game by a quarterback or team also usually means the team was successful, maybe even to the point of winning the game.

A great deal of attention is given to the quarterbacks with the most 300 yard games, but what team has had the most 300 yard passing games in the history of the league? The San Diego Chargers sit atop the list with the most of any team, even though their first year in football wasn't until 1960. The passing game has always been important to the Chargers and they have had some gifted quarterbacks over the years, including John Hadl, Dan Fouts, Drew Brees, and Phillip Rivers.

Here is a look at the top ten franchises in NFL history, ranked by how many 300 yard passing games they have had.

1. San Diego Chargers - 114
2. St. Louis Rams - 112
3. San Francisco 49ers - 106
4. Indianapolis Colts - 92
5. Green Bay Packers - 88
6. Tennessee Titans - 87
7. Three Teams Tied For 7th Place With 85 Three Hundred Yard Passing Games in their history: Miami Dolphins, Philadelphia Eagles, and Washington Redskins.
8. New England Patriots - 83

As expected because they are the newest team in the league, the last place team in the entire NFL in this category is the Houston Texans.

Lottery Millionaires - How Many People Win at Least a Million Dollars Every Year?

What do these people have in common: George Martinek, Susan Hannoun, Lori Boyle, Bernadette Gietka, Neal Wanless, and Bob Guerzon? Answer: They are all lottery millionaires. They, along with thousands of people every year, defy the odds and win the lotto jackpot. We hear about jackpot winners every week on the news. But have you ever considered how many new millionaires are created by the lottery each year? How many people win at least a million dollars?

According to the TLC television show, "The Lottery Changed My Life," more than 1600 new lottery millionaires are created each year. That doesn't include people that have won jackpots of, say, $100,000 because than the number would be much higher. Still, 1600 is quite a high number.

If 1600 win at least a million in the lotto every year, it means that there are more than 130 each month, more than 30 each week, and more than 4 each day. That's a lot of winners.

Perhaps you're inspired by these numbers. Perhaps you think that since there are so many big lottery winners, you're time will come one day. I don't mean to crash the party, but perhaps you should think again. The odds of winning a million dollar jackpot are bad. 1600 yearly jackpot winners isn't that big of a number when you consider how many people actually play. Hundreds of millions of people buy billions of lottery tickets each year and only a small fraction of those people actually win a big jackpot.

Don't get discouraged, though. The lottery is a game of random luck and you might get lucky one day and become a new lottery millionaire. Good luck!

Tino writes a blog about lottery winners. It includes stories about people that have won the lottery, people like Patriots instant lottery winner Scott Hoyt, who won $1 million.

Reality TV - Is It Still Relevant?

Over the last decade or so, reality TV has kept people talking. Competitions like Pop Idol and The X Factor draw in millions of viewers, each supporting their favourites either by simply watching the show, or by watching the show and actively voting to keep their contestants in.

Reality shows can uncover talent and challenge stereotypes. One example is a lady called Susan Boyle, who took part in Britain's Got Talent. When she stepped onto the stage, the judges and the audience did not appear to be taking her seriously. They saw a woman of a certain age, who wasn't conventionally pretty, and they didn't think her capable of being a genuine contestant. All that changed when she began to sing. Susan Boyle is now known around the globe.

Critics say that shows like The X-Factor are manufactured moneymaking machines. It cannot be denied that the format plays on people's feelings (amongst others by showing stories of contestants' tragic pasts) and that, yes, there is a lot of money to be made. When people vote for their favourite to win, they will often purchase their first single. Votes, too, cost money. People are sold entertainment and some are willing to buy it in order to feel involved.

Fans of reality TV tend to be aware of its flaws and manipulation, and take the shows as they come. If a show's producers push it too far, they will speak up. When the British version of The X Factor was thought to have used auto-tuning in the production stages to make certain contestants sound better, it sparked an outrage and apologies had to be made.

One show that's caused some uproar in the past is Endemol's Big Brother. First shown in the Netherlands, Big Brother soon became popular around the world. The format was simple - stick a group of people in a fully monitored environment, set them some challenges and see what happens. Fans of the show can view the contestants around the clock and discover the ever-changing dynamics and interactions within the group.

Big Brother is currently in its final series on Channel 4 in the UK. There is a possibility that it may be picked up by another channel in the future. Several years ago, this UK series became controversial after racial tension between some of the housemates. Since then, Endemol and Channel 4 have been more careful with their format (too careful, according to a portion of its long-term fans), to avoid further outrage. This is understandable, as racism should never be tolerated. However, a lot of housemate interaction which would have been permissible in the past is no longer allowed.

Whilst some people see reality TV shows as an easy step into Z-list celebrity, and some would challenge the celebrity culture, the popularity of shows in this genre may have waned some, but they still draw a considerable amount of viewers. So what is it that people like about reality TV?

I think that everyone watches for their own reasons, from watching talented people and following their journey, to witnessing the developments of a group of people in a psychologically challenging environment. I also feel that one of the major factors is that these shows offer us the chance to watch people - ordinary people like us - follow their dreams or endure the ups and downs of their time on the show.

We like to spot people we can relate to. We like to imagine how we would have handled a situation, and see if our reactions are comparable to those of the people on our screen. And over time, we form a certain connection with the contestants, even though we're not likely to ever meet them. We start to feel like we know them, even a little, and we start to care about them.

This is the strength of reality TV, and for all its flaws and manipulation, its development is interesting. Whether or not it has a future is questionable - it shouldn't push the boundaries too far and turn vulgar, it shouldn't start to rely on the shock factor to draw an audience, nor should it turn so politically correct that it becomes patronizing and, well, dull. Program makers have their own challenge ahead to keep the format fresh, but if they can manage it, there should be some interesting years of entertainment ahead.

Kit Marsters is an author on http://www.Writing.Com/ which is a site for Creative Writing. She's also watched one too many series of Big Brother, though she's unlikely to stop.

Susan Boyle Sings Success

Susan Boyle can teach us all a lesson about how to achieve success. Defined as "the favorable or prosperous termination of attempts or endeavors", true success remains elusive for most people - regardless of profession. As a global "overnight sensation" Susan oozed courage, patience and determination in pursuing her personal goal. The truth is that most of us are just too busy being comfortable with where we are, as opposed to taking the risks necessary to be successful.

Never underestimate the power of a positive mindset. The only thing you have control of in your life is your perception. Luckily for Susan Boyle, this is the force that can move mountains. Instill within yourself a positive mindset and you've instilled the energy of success. This energy will forever attract its twin. In other words, the energy of success attracts the manifestation of success in actual life. A positive mindset incorporates strong self-belief, drive and determination.

To be successful you must develop your mission statement and break it down into smaller components. It is important to set small goals every day. In this, you are creating the step-by-step process to achieving your greater goals. Once successful patterns are established in your life, everything becomes possible.

When creating a goal-setting routine, set primary objectives in one or two areas to begin. As you start realizing small successes, add more objectives. Take a separate piece of paper for every objective. Clearly write the objective and the deadline for achieving your goal. Next, list the reasons you have for achieving each objective. Many people fail to achieve success simply because they lack clear reasons for doing so. For example, Susan Boyle made it her mission to enter, and win, a singing competition. She carefully planned the daily set of actions that would help her accomplish this mission. Susan did all this as a tribute to her late mother. The more compelling your reasons are, the greater your chances will be for meeting your objectives. Conversely, if you can't come up with good reasons to do something, you may as well set another objective, as this one won't be achieved.

Susan Boyle had the clarity of vision in her quest. Define what success means to you and manifest it in your actions. Combat every failing with a positive mindset and you'll realize that even mistakes are just another step in the right direction. When life doesn't go your way it's important not to get discouraged. The less it seems as if things are on the right track, the more you are required to persevere in your endeavor. Commitment means for better or for worse and no business endeavor comes without its lumps. Keep your positive mindset handy against whatever obstacles are thrown in your way.

Susan Boyle practiced her singing diligently and applied to appear on the Britain's Got Talent television show. Had she not done so she wouldn't have achieved her goal. As you can see, it takes action to achieve your dreams. Action is the final puzzle piece needed to build success.

Susan Boyle stayed true to her vision and pursued her dream. Remember that everyone suffers before achieving glory.

What Susan Boyle Can Teach a Radio Producer

A good radio producer needs to know how to conduct emotion like an orchestra.

Have you seen the Susan Boyle viral video that's making the rounds? The unlikely star brings the house down on "Britain's Got Talent". The video has topped the 100 million-viewer mark and may become YouTube's most viewed ever.

Boyle, 47, of West Lothian, Scotland, sang as she auditioned before awestruck judges and audience members. Since then, the entire world has been watching, and re-watching, the woman with the big voice. What makes this video so endearing? Emotion is key here. Let's go back to the beginning and unravel this extraordinary video for perspective.

Stay with me here. Imagine you are a producer. What would it be like if you were given just an etch-a sketch with the assignment to create a lot of attention with whatever you can put on that simple screen. That's precisely the challenge radio and TV producers are faced with every day. You're given a screen or a set of speakers and you've got to make something special happen. So what do you do? What direction do you take? Draw a few lines or speak a few words and hope it works? That won't cut it.

To get real attention you've got to touch hearts. Emotion touches hearts. So let's use the Susan Boyle Video as an example. This is a masterpiece of attention getting. It looks so natural and feels so good to watch. Plus, it is nicely embedded in real life for believability. But don't be naive. This didn't just happen. A talented producer was behind this.

The Hero's Journey, a template of storytelling, is used extensively in this video.  In typical Hero's Journey fashion, Susan Boyle is a regular person just doing her thing. She accepts a challenge against pretty big odds. The challenge is visible in multiple ways : her look, the actual singing competition, the doubting audience, a panel of unforgiving judges. All elements that contribute to the dark night of the soul, or belly of the whale experience, that marks every Hero's Journey.

Susan even has helpers, friends, if you will. The sidestage guys who are like a couple of pals cheering her on. Their presence adds power to the strong feelings that emerge in this mini story. These two guys represent 'us'. We are also represented by audience members who are visibly taken by the transformation right before their eyes. They express our unspoken sentiments. Note: I am not suggesting the video was contrived. It was simply well crafted and presented in a way that contains these elements of the Hero's Journey and that makes a great story.

When Susan sings she is pulling the proverbial sword from the stone. And we, the metaphorical townspeople, love it. We all cry out in unison, "Bravo, well done!" Perfect ending. Knowing all this as I watched, I still felt it deeply. That's why the Hero's Journey works. It is already coded in our psyche. You can tell who the hero is in any story by a little known trick. Find the one who transforms. Our hero here is Susan Boyle and of course, you and me. We find kinship in her courage, faith and heart.

Brytyjski Mam Talent 2009 - Piosenkarz Shaheen Jafargholi !!

w 2 tydzien rywalizacji Shaheen Jafarghol porwał swoim głosem publiczność i jurorów. Susan Boyle, gwiazda brytyjskiego Mam Talent, powinna czuć się zagrożona - pojawił się naprawdę groźny rywal. Nawet słynący z surowych ocen Simon Cowell zgotował mu owację na stojąco, a Demi Moore pochwaliła występ na Twitterze. A początek był nieciekawy. Jafarghol wybrał piosenkę "Valerie" grupy "The Zutons", nagranej później przez Amy Winehouse. Zaczął śpiewać, zadowolona publiczność klaskała, ale... Cowell stwierdził, że to nie jest piosenka odpowiednia dla jego głosu. I przerwał występ. Nie tak to miało wyglądać... Wtedy Jafarghol zdecydował się zaśpiewać "Who's Loving You", nagrane przez młodego Michael Jackson.

Twitter - New Rules For Follow Friday (A Philosophy For Social Media)

I will be the absolute first to admit that I don't like rules. In fact, I hate them. I've always felt that they were unnecessary if people would exercise even the slightest degree of common sense. But, we all know how UN-common common sense it, and it is for that exact reason, that we (unfortunately) NEED to have rules.

Before I just lay down the law and explain the rules, though, I think it's only fair that we give everyone a chance to see exactly why this is just common sense. :)

There Is A Law...

An apple falls from a tree because of the Law of Gravity... there are also laws that govern social media. It's a simple matter of cause & effect: for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. "Follow Friday" is an instance where can see Law #7 in action: People just want to be loved.

The Right Way...

Follow Friday is an opportunity to share with our friends the people that we value. We are saying "this is someone that I get value from, and I want you to enjoy what they have to offer as well". It's about sharing, giving and providing value to others.

...and the Wrong Way

Follow Friday is NOT about getting more followers. Some people (either ignorant of the law, or possessing a lack mentality) will recommend as many people as they can for #followfriday in hopes that some of them will feel obligated to reciprocate that gesture. By accomplishing this, they hope that they will attract new followers. Sadly, they just don't get it...

It's about relationships, NOT numbers

100 followers who love & respect you are far more valuable than 10,000 who are not emotionally engaged. Think about it... we all see billboards and magazine ads every day without taking much note, but when a friend recommends a new restaurant or movie, we stop and listen.

This isn't just some hippie-make-love-not-profits idea we're talking about, it's also solid marketing. Every marketer dreams of having their campaign go viral. When people are genuinely interested it automatically grows, even without your help.

Case in point - Did you know that Susan Boyle, of Britain's Got Talent, almost instantly became one of the most popular videos on Youtube... And she had never even heard of youtube!  She wasn't trying to get a lot of views, she was just doing what she was passionate about. If you do the same, you'll see similar results... maybe not 1 million followers, but you'll get the ones that see value in what you offer.

Showing Love To Others

Okay, so now that we understand that it's about what we give instead than what we get, let's do it with an A+ effort. What would make you feel more loved:

  • #ff @yourname @stranger1 @stranger2 @stranger3 @stranger3 @stranger4 @stranger5 @stranger6

  • Friends, check out @yourname an amazing friend of mine who's tweets make me smile every day. #followfriday

Yeah, pretty obvious, huh? Of course you would prefer the 2nd one better. (If not, i've got an #blockparty you can join)

But how do I fit all my friends in?

You don't. That's the point... People feel special when you give them recognition. Nobody wants to be a statistic, they want to be recognized as a valuable individual.

Lumping my name in with 100 people with no explanation of why you recommend me doesn't make me feel special. In fact, it just ticks me off. Can you imagine @SharonHayes' inbox? If all of her 30k+ followers did the #ff spam method, she wouldn't get anything done.

Besides, even if your bulk recommendations are genuine, most people on twitter can't follow that many new tweeps in a day anyway.

Some EXCELLENT examples

These are actual examples that are dead-on the money:

  • @TomBeasley #followfriday @AndyGoudling. He is a local radio DJ with a witty sense of humour and an intriguing take on everyday life.

  • @TamaraSchilling I Recommend that you #FollowFriday @4thQtrCoach... this man is always upbeat, positive & willing to help you connect & grow! #professional

Go Forth & Multiply (but do it responsibly) That's it... go for it, show love and help make twitter a better place.

If you have a great #followfriday you want to share, feel free to reply to me and I'd love to pass it along! :)

It's Time to End Our Current Tax System

As a country we have reached the end of the line. The revenue generated by our current tax system, according to most experts, is no longer sufficient to meet the voracious need of politicians who spend our hard earned money. If we do nothing, the U.S. will fail financially. Some pessimistic financial experts put that end sometime around 2020, about the time Medicare is expected to fail. Others put it at around 2040, about the time Social Security is expected to fail. Realistically, none of the financial pundits really knows when the U.S. will fail. But my point is this; they all agree the U.S. is going to fail financially at some point. They use euphemistic-speak for our ultimate doom by saying the U.S. "cannot sustain the present course". When you hear "cannot sustain the present course" talk just remember they are really saying the U.S. will go bankrupt.

Everyone talks about the dreaded income tax system, but not the payroll tax system. The average American does not seem to understand that the payroll tax punishes the poor and middle class the most. The payroll tax represents the Social Security and Medicare tax withholding that all Americans must have taken out of their gross pay. Each paycheck we lose 7.65% in payroll taxes to Uncle Sam. The payroll tax generates more tax revenue than the oft-dreaded income tax.

Politicians have prostituted the income tax system, a system that started out as a flat tax, so much so that it now encompasses 57,917 pages encapsulated in our Internal Revenue Code and accompanying regulations. Not to mention thousands of rules set forth in precedents established by numerous tax court cases (and other non-tax court cases). The evolution of this mess began the first day a lobbyist walked into a politician's office and sought some tax benefit. Once the word got around that these lobbyists were sending other politicians on very nice, expensive trips, the rest of the politicians jumped on the lobbyist bandwagon and bent over to accommodate the lobbyists tax demands. Congress and spending are a contradictory relationship. On the one hand Congress has a fiduciary duty to carefully spend our tax dollars. They actually have a fiduciary responsibility not to spend more than the government takes in. On the other hand, they are measured by their constituents (the voters in their districts) by how much money they are able to get from the government for use in their districts. So there's a contradiction inherent in their desire to control government spending and in their desire to get elected. So guess which desire gets pushed to the side. You got it. The control spending one. Thus our deficit.

Our deficit has gotten so big and out of control that, China, the largest borrowing of U.S. government obligations, is now expressing serious concern over the U.S.'s ability to actually make good on all this debt. In other words, China believes the U.S. might go bankrupt and leave them with trillions in worthless U.S. debt obligations.

We owe it to our children to no longer permit our politicians to continue kicking the can down the road to the next generation, in an effort to get elected. So what do we do? We need to end our current income tax system and payroll tax system. There is a proposed House bill (H.R. 25) and a proposed Senate bill (S. 1025) which offer a solution. What's embodied in these two bills is an alternate system of taxation, known as the Fair Tax. No matter what you may have heard that is bad about the Fair Tax, understand this: the opponents to this are primarily politicians and big lobby groups. The Fair Tax represents the largest transfer of power from a federal government to its citizens, the likes of which has not been seen since the American Revolution. The politicians and the lobby groups are frightened for their lives. The Fair Tax threatens the power base these two groups have fought so hard to enjoy. Let's go over some of the key points on the Fair Tax.

Fair Tax Overview:
1. Eliminates the current income tax, payroll tax, estate tax and gift tax systems. This means no more withholdings from gross pay, no more IRS, no more IRS audits, no more IRS inquiries, no more income tax lobby groups, no more tax returns to be filed, no more tax return preparer fees to be paid, no more tax loopholes for favored taxpayers, no more estate tax, no more capital gains tax, no more self-employment tax, no more corporate tax, no more gift tax and no more alternative minimum tax.

2. Replaces our current system of taxation with a national sales tax with a rate of 23%. You pay tax only on what you spend. Thus you become a truly voluntary taxpayer. Something called a rebate (aka "prebate") will be paid by the federal government. This rebate represents the 23% Fair Tax amount paid on all household spend up to a certain level of spend (up to poverty level). Everyone who currently receives a paycheck will receive 100% of their paycheck, not the current 65%. You may think the 23% is very high, but keep in mind that in every product or service you buy, is an embedded income/payroll tax of 22%.

Imagine for a moment if you could bank 100% of your paycheck. Think about that for a moment. How would that improve your life? Imagine for a moment if you had total control over how much tax you pay. Sounds a lot like freedom to me. Freedom is an American ideal. We like freedom. Fair Tax provides us with more freedom over our lives, less intrusion by the federal government and more money to save for a house, college and retirement.

If you want to learn more about the Fair Tax go on to their web site fairtaxdotorg. Don't buy in to the objections that are out there. Politicians and lobby groups are doing their best to make the Fair Tax proposal sound flawed. Their objections are unfounded and each one is easily dismissed by the Fair Tax experts. Remember the author of this blog is a CPA. I make money preparing tax returns and consulting on tax matters. I have nothing to gain in pushing the Fair Tax initiative.

Online Electric Guitar Lessons - Where Are the Best?

Online electric guitar lessons that offer quality lessons can be difficult to find. The reason is because there are so many online electric guitar lessons but most are not even worth looking at.

Do you want to learn how to play the electric guitar? Or maybe you have been playing for awhile and are looking to pick up some new licks or riffs for your bag of tricks. No matter what level of experience you have playing the guitar, there are plenty of resources out there to help you expand your knowledge of playing the electric guitar.

The great thing about playing electric guitar is that the sound can be a lot more dynamic than a traditional acoustic guitar. You have all kinds of fun effects to play with such as distortion, vibrato, wah wah pedals and a whole lot more.

That's what makes playing electric guitar so much fun. You can play the same songs over and over again and make them sound completely different by simply adjusting the tone of your guitar.

So where is a good place to find online electric guitar lessons? The answer is, it depends on what you're looking for. Someone who is brand-new to play in the guitar will most likely benefit from a "how to get started" type of course, while advanced players are going to be more interested in what some of the more advanced lesson sites that offer.

And there is a lot of information on the Internet to sift through. Some of it is fantastic, but the majority of it is the same old rehashed boring guitar lessons that have been around forever.

If you would like to save yourself the time and headache of sifting through all of the low quality guitar sites on the Internet, take a moment to check out http://easilyplayguitar.com/guitarreview

We talk about the best online electric guitar lessons. We also understand that every guitar player has individual needs so we can recommend lessons to you based on what style of music you'd like to play, as well as your experience level.

Susan Boyle - I Dreamed A Dream

From Susan CD (I Dreamed A Dream) ☆Lyrics☆ I dreamed a dream in time gone by When hope was high and life worth living I dreamed that love would never die I dreamed that God would be forgiving Then I was young and unafraid And dreams were made and used and wasted There was no ransom to be paid No song unsung, no wine untasted But the tigers come at night With their voices soft as thunder As they turn your hope apart As they turn your dreams to shame And still I dream he'd come to me That we would live the years together But there are dreams that cannot be And there are storms we cannot weather I had a dream my life would be So different from the hell Im living So different now from what it seemed Now life has killed the dream I dreamed

Self Esteem - What Susan Boyle Thinks About Your Age

Do you know who Susan Boyle is? She is the Britain's Got Talent sensation. She made it to second best at the talent hunt at the age of 47. At 47! You may exclaim. Yes, at age 47. You are probably thinking like most people who assume such a TV program is a younger people thing.

She won our hearts by her outstanding performance despite all the prejudice she suffered because of her age. The show was so hot on the internet that sites that showcased the competition had a traffic windfall for weeks just because of this inspirational woman.

Why didn't she come out big earlier in life? She had been in other concerts and shows when she was younger but the organizers were not "seeing" her talent. Why did she have to gain this popularity at an older age in her life? May be you ask God. What counts is that she made it to our faces and hearts despite all the discouragements. At least you now know that you too can be popular for something worldwide at a later age.

Do you get the idea? And that is against all odds, real or imagined she made it to the place she had desired in her music career. And her age? When I hear her voice and music, I am more thrilled and inspired than thinking of some make- believe age issue.

If you are uncomfortable with your age; is the discomfort as a result of fear of loss of opportunities for experience or that of underachieved life.

If it is that of fear of loss of opportunities for experience, may be you feel at forty or fifty something you have become automatically (unfairly) "banned" from being you. Banned from dancing freely, jumping stairs, just almost everything that make you feel free and real. You think and feel unfairly prejudged because of some numbers associated with you.

If the fame had come to Susan Boyle 10-20 years earlier, would it had been a sweeter, more satisfying experience? I don't think age will determine that. Her ability to enjoy her NOW will come from a maturity that appreciates and celebrates life irrespective of whatever is the age. Something about people is that if they perceive your comfortability with an experience, they will align themselves to the rightness of that experience also.

If your discomfort is that of under-achievement, I will like to ask here- by what standard was the measurement done. I hope it is not another case of unhealthy competition borne out of undue comparison. You are probably comparing yourself with your high school and college colleagues. I always say this-That someone appears to be steps ahead of you in status doesn't mean he/she has outrun you in life. Life purposes and destinies differ and can't be run alike.

Even if there is a really case of underachievement, who says you can't recover the lost ground at any age. Ask Kentucky fries founder Col Harland Sander. He so believed in his Kentucky fried chicken that he travelled the US at age 65 to sell his chicken to restaurant owners. Think about that

Wonder of the Waters - A History of Essential Mineral Baths

For centuries, hot springs have offered numerous health benefits for everything from arthritis to indigestion. Sulfur, for instance, is credited with relieving nasal congestion, while sodium bicarbonate and calcium are said to enhance circulation. A number of studies have also indicated that soaking in hot mineral spring waters lessens the pain of arthritis. For instance, a study published in the August 1995 issue of the Israeli medical journal Harefuah reported patients bathing in the Dead Sea salt experienced improvement in knee pain. Other Israeli study results published in the April 2001 issue of the Rheumatology International indicated that hot sulfur baths helped relieve the pain and lessen the fatigue of fibromyalgia.

The benefits of hot springs, or mineral baths, were first endorsed by the Romans. They were so much a part of life that nearly every Roman city had at least one bath, which served as centers of public bathing and socializing. Throughout the Empire, baths sprung up wherever natural hot springs existed, including the United Kingdom, Germany, Algeria, and The Netherlands. Here, Romans bathed, exercised, and socialized with one another. They were used by the rich, poor, free or slave.

The hot springs in Baden-Baden, Germany, were well known to the Romans. In 1847, well preserved remains of Roman vapour baths were discovered below the castle. In fact, the direct translation of Baden-Baden is Baths-Baths. The name actually refers to both the city and the Baden region of Germany and the city lies along the Oos River in the Black Forest. One of the world's great spas, Baden-Baden has been popular with patrons of its natural mineral springs for centuries. In fact, Britain's Queen Victoria was an annual visitor who made the health benefits of Baden-Baden well known during her reign.

Today, the bathing houses in Baden-Baden are considered some of the most elegant in Europe. However, the baths cater to people of all means. There are a total of 29 hot springs, which is conveyed through the town in pipes to the various baths. The waters at Baden-Baden are known to bring relief for cases of rheumatism, gout, paralysis, neuralgia, and skin diseases.

One of the world's first health resorts, the Dead Sea is one of the world's saltiest bodies of water. Herod the Great, the Roman king of Judaea from 73 BC to 4 BC, enjoyed the healthful benefits of the Dead Sea, as well as Queen Cleopatra, who obtained exclusive rights to build cosmetic and pharmaceutical factories in the area. The region's climate and unique conditions created by its low elevation has made the Dead Sea a popular destination for a variety of health and beauty treatments. Multiple studies have shown the mineral essentials of the sea are effective for psoriasis, acne, and rheumatism. The Ein Gedi Spa, a well-established site on the shores of the Dead Sea, offers indoor thermo-mineral pools, resting areas, and a large outdoor bath containing rich, heavy black mud, which is ideal for ridding the body of poisons.

The healing properties of hot springs were espoused by the Native Americans, as well. When Spanish explorer Hernando De Soto reached the Valley of the Vapors in 1541, he was the first European to see the curative nature of what is now known as Hot Springs, Arkansas. For many years, tribes had been enjoying the springs - agreeing to put aside their weapons to partake of the healing waters in peace while in the valley. By 1832, the Hot Springs National Park was formed, which granted protection of the thermal waters, giving Hot Springs the distinction of being the first national park to be designated for government protection.

The thermal springs, situated in the Ouachita Mountains of Central Arkansas, emerge in a gap between Hot Springs Mountain and West Mountain. Nicknamed "The American Spa," visitors from around the world flocked to the natural hot springs. Today, this rich history is preserved in the faithfully-restored Fordyce Bathhouse, a museum and visitors center on Bathhouse Row. A variety of bathing facilities are open as well to visitors on Bathhouse Row and in hotels and spas downtown.

More than 100 years ago, the rich and famous traveled by private rail car to Mount Clemens, Michigan, to experience its magical mineral waters pumped from 1,400 feet under the city. Following the opening of the first bath house, "America's Bath City" reached its height of popularity with luxury resort hotels offering heated baths, which were widely known to relieve the pain of arthritis and rheumatism, as well as skin problems such as eczema. Henry Ford, William Randolph Hearst, Mae West, Babe Ruth, and European royalty made visits to Mount Clemens to partake of its mineral essentials.

In the 1900s, the mineral water from Mount Clemens drew thousands of polio patients. Legend had it that people came to the city in wheelchairs and left walking under their own power. Ultimately, eleven major bath houses operated in the city, supported by dozens of resort hotels, resulting in a thriving therapeutic industry.

Tribalism: Kenya’s Oldest ‘Living Skeleton’ in The Closet

There've been heated debates on the tribalism issue, mooted and dissected on motley of forums. The internet (blogs & sites), newspapers, magazines, tabloids and pamphlets have helped potray the dynamics of this 'touchy' issue.

I've been following the goings-on with bated breath and each time I read or hear about tribalistic issues this question always screams for an answer: when will our people open their eyes and see that tribalism (tribalistic mindsets) 'helps' to sever the cords of national unity and harmony?

Having lived outside Kenya for sometime, I've seen Kenyans of different tribal origins working together as brothers and sisters, their tribalistic mindsets notwithstanding. I've seen, for instance, Kikuyus and Luos working in harmony and calling each other 'bro' or 'sis'. I've seen them doing things together, things they would not have attempted or a brotherliness that would never have materialised were it in Kenya.

This is a sorry state of affairs. Must we go out of the country to realise that tribalism should never be an issue and that we can work as brothers and sisters (AS KENYANS) even at home.

If we can live and work as brothers outside Kenya how much more in our homeland!!

Outside Kenya we call ourselves Kenyans, in Kenya we call ourselves 'Luos', 'Kikuyus', 'Kambas', Kalenjins'... the list is endless. What does someone in his right senses make of this? "HYPOCRISY!" You scream, and I pat you on the back and smilingly tell you, "You've hit the nail on the head."

We are hypocrites, God forgive us. We always want to be mollycoddled and told that we are on the right path. But in this matter we are wide of the mark.

Hello Kenyans. We are Kenyans whether Luo, Kikuyu, Nandi, Luhya, name it. We'll always be Kenyans. Let's behave, eat and live as Kenyans should. Let the strength of brotherhood be our bastion.

Let's elect people, not because they are Kikuyu, Luo, Kamba or any other tribe, but because they can steer us to the acme we aspire. The decisions we make today will go a long way in defining our lives and nationhood, whether rash or well-thought out! (This is especially so as we are in the run up to the election next year, 2007!)

Did I hear you smack your lips in dissatisfaction?

My plea: Let's treat each other as Kenyans. Treat fellow Kenyans as you would your beloved brother, sister, son or daughter: with love, respect and sincerity.

2012 Apocalypse - The True Hype of 2012

The 2012 apocalypse is a prediction made by an intersection of Prophecies, Religions as well as Science. A number of scientific evidence and religious scriptures predict that there is a possibility of an apocalyptic event to take place in the year 2012.

Many scientists are on the process of researching the theories behind apocalypse and investigate on the acts of nature that can cause the apocalyptic event to take place.

The Mayan Calendar- Apocalypse 2012

The Mayan calendar is considered to be sacred and religious, having its own patron spirit. Prediction show that Mayan cycle of evolution will end on December 21. This time is called with many names, such as "Judgment Day", "The Apocalypse", "The End of Creation", "Armageddon" and "The Quickening".

As per the prediction, it is said that the end of Mayan Calendar will bring regeneration of earth, thereby offering an awakening to everyone with open hearts. The Mayans were renowned for their architectural, mathematical and scientific achievements. As per the Maya, the "future" that lies beyond 2012 will be considered literally an Apocalypse.

According to the Mayans, the end of various events over time will eventually lead to the spiritual awakening of the entire world. Others believe that the gravitational, magnetic energy and solar energies may go crooked when the galactic and planetary alignment tends to occur, thereby causing numerous natural disasters, such as weakening of the magnetic field and so on. This will in turn allow solar radiation to enter into our atmosphere and eventually destroy the whole planet.

Ms Susan Boyle - An Inspiring Story

By the time you read this, you probably heard of the inspiring life story of Susan Boyle. A 47-year old, unemployed, never been married (and never been kissed) woman from Scotland who elicited lots of praises and compliments not just from the three judges, but also from millions of people across the universe, thanks to YouTube. Her inspiring story spread rapidly like wildfire and inspires others (especially underdogs and dark horses like her) to reach for your dreams no matter what. The Britain's Got Talent contestant (by far the most popular these days), delivered a strong performance backed up with an even appropriate and inspirational song, "I Dreamed a Dream" from Les Miserables.

I like watching that show, in the sense that Britain's Got Talent is indeed about talent. It's about talent through and through, despite your looks, and your age. And what I even like most about the inspiring story of Ms. Susan Boyle is that it's as if she's the epitome of dreaming and believing in your dreams-and not putting an age limit to your dreams and goals. What makes this inspiring story so appealing to the masses, is the fact that we have a not-so-young dreamer dreaming to be a professional singer (wants to be as successful as Elaine Page at that!), when generally, dreaming is associated for the young and their promising future.

But here, we have Susan Boyle to change the face of dreaming big and giving us her inspiring story. Truly, she's not just a living example, but also a living inspiration as well! I know of other singing competitions that imposed age limits on their contestants. It's good that Britain's Got Talent never limits their contestants for a certain age bracket only. Why this allure about second chances and underdogs and dark horses? And why not-it just goes to show that all of us, at some moments in our lives, can relate to being underdogs, since we experienced what it feels like being an underdog ourselves.

We want to inspired and strengthened after failure, rejection, and frustration. An inspiring story like Susan Boyle's is just one strong validation and we felt justified that we can be like her. She's also a real person (and not just any fictitious character) and she's like one of us, living an ordinary life but who wants to have a better life. So, how who can resist this inspiring story? As we live our day to day struggle in our lives, we all need some bits of inspiration to make us smile, enlightened, hopeful and optimistic for our future. And we don't need pretty faces, toned muscles, almost-perfect hair that light up our TV screens to make us inspired.

On the contrary, it's those flawed, ordinary-looking individuals which we can relate to that make us more humane and we can say, "If she can do it, I can too." And I love that smiling aura of Ms. Boyle devoid of any arrogance or self-pity (unemployed, but still looking) when asked what she's going to do onstage. She said, "I'm gonna wow the audience". And boy, she did more than just that-she even received a standing ovation not just from the crowd, but also from the two judges. Everybody's got an inspiring story---what's yours?

スーザン・ボイル準決勝の曲:メモリー 「キャッツ」より MEMORY - Susan Boyle

Work With What You Have

The world was abuzz last week after the 47-year old Scottish "spinster", Susan Boyle, mesmerized us with her vocal performance on Britain's Got Talent. In less than a week, her rendition of Les MisPrables, I Dream a Dream, has been viewed over forty million times on YouTube. As beautiful as her voice is, her sudden popularity has as much to do with her appearance as it does with her talent. The moment she stepped on stage, she was viewed as a joke--old, frumpy and unattractive.

Ignoring the obvious laughter and jeers from the audience (and sarcasm from the judges), Susan displayed absolute confidence from start to finish. She may not have possessed the outer beauty that the world has come to judge as attractive, but she worked what she had! She worked it so well that the same audience that booed when she stepped on stage ended on their feet applauding with tears streaming down their faces. Why? Because we love to see the underdogs prevail. Who would have thought...?

You can never judge a book by its cover! What hidden talents are you withholding--perhaps out of fear, unbelief or lack of confidence? Most people sit on the sidelines of life as spectators watching others live out their dreams. Incubating inside of them are innovative ideas, unexpressed gifts & talents and creative genius.

Perhaps your head is waging a war with your heart; your reality with your desire. Do you know that people would be shocked to know all that you possess inside? I find it interesting that many people, who know my history, are amazed that I went from a 20-year career as a tax professional to writing, speaking and life coaching. I'm confident that you're not one-dimensional either. Deciding to a "stay put" and play yourself small doesn't serve you well, or anybody else for that matter. You can choose to stay in your safety zone--focusing solely upon self preservation or live a larger, more fulfilling life.

This week I encourage you to get ready to make your grand entrance. Step away from the sidelines and onto the playing field. You might not have Halle Berry's looks or Celine Dion's voice. Sometimes sheer desire will take you much further than outer beauty (or talent) ever could. Don't focus on what you don't have. Acknowledge what you do have and work it! If you happen to have beautiful features (face, hair, hands, physique, etc.), then throw it all in the mix and work that too!

Take Action Challenge
What's holding you back from working what you've got? Write it down and then decide what you intend to do about it. It might not be wise for you to step out with reckless abandon, but setting an intention is a starting point.
